Mixed Media on Silk Tondo

This series of tondos are built up slowly using mixed media on silk layered over either linen or calico stretched. I often paint over an older work which gives the completed work a multi depth to the surface, the paints, pastels and waxes achieve a translucence and hint at my internal dialogue. Using lines from Nirvanas ‘In Bloom’. These paintings are memento mori. Their subjects speak of the transient, fragile, bitter sweet nature of life. Viewing these as though through a light veil, the viewer has the impression of being trapped inside.
